Strong Government Control Highly Likely To Moderately Decrease Role Of Extra-Government Non-State Actors In Equatorial Guinea Over 2_EG.jpgNext Five Years

`
Executive Summary:
The social, political, and economic climate of Equatorial Guinea is not conducive to any significant and influential operations by non-state actors Moderate_Dec.jpg(NSAs). Currently, extra-governmental NSAs play only a minimal role (represented by its score of 2 on the Extra Governmental side of the Role Potential spectrum); however, over the next five years it is highly likely that the role of NSAs will experience a moderate decrease. This decrease in role is due primarily to the government's excessive control over most sectors of the country- particularly the media- its lack of tolerance for any opposition, and the rampant corruption in the country. These three factors also have the potential to lead to increased internal instability in the nation, as they are likely to spur anti-governmental rebellions.
